Parent News Update: January 22nd 2016

Meet the Head,
Thursday 28th January 2016, 16.30, Atrium

Dear Parents / Guardians,

You will no doubt have seen from the December newsletter that I have now taken up post as Headteacher of Isca Academy, but I wanted to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself –and to wish you all a belated happy New Year!  As you can imagine, it has been a busy first couple of weeks, getting to know the team and children here and I am very much looking forward to meeting you all at the ‘Meet the Head’ event on Thursday 28th January. This will be a chance for me to give you a clearer sense of what my vision is for Isca Academy and to answer any questions that you may have.

I am passionate about providing high quality education for every child within the Academy and my focus will be very much on creating a culture of inclusiveness, equality of opportunity and high expectation. A key part of this is to work closely with you to support and engage your children, and build on all that is already very good at Isca to make it a school where all children will develop and succeed.

I realise that late afternoon meetings can be logistically difficult for some parents to attend but I hope that as many of you as possible can make it on the 28th.  However If you are unable to attend, but feel that there are important issues about the school that you would like to discuss with me, my door is always open and I welcome regular dialogue with parents.

With best regards,

Aimee Mitchell
Headteacher, Isca

Music News From Mr Toomer:

If any students have taken practical music exams on an instrument or music theory exams that are grade 5 or higher this can add to their final ‘Progress 8 ‘ score when they leave Isca.  In the future this can also give UCAS points when considering university courses etc.  If students bring in their certificates to Anne Croft in the exam office she will make sure that are registered and accredited.

Samba Band
Samba Band rehearsal are every Tuesday after school. You don’t need any experience to play in the band and it’s really good fun. We’d love to see more students just turning up tp have a go – please encourage your child to have a look!

Isca Band Rehearsals

For students that have a bit more musical experience and play an instrument the Isca Band runs in Mr Toomer’s music room every Friday morning at 8am. We know it’s early so there’s some breakfast provided as well.
