Its been a great start to the football season for the Isca Academy football teams! Our latest match reports are below.
Year 7 B Team v St Luke's 5-1
Year 8 A Team v St Peters 3-0
Year 9 A Team v Great Torrington School 5-3
Year 11 v Torquay Grammar 5-4

Year 7 B Team
Year 7 B team traveled to play St Luke's earlier this week in their opening game of the National Cup. The weather was miserable but that didn't put a dampener on the spirit of the team who were excited to represent Isca for the first time. The majority of the first half was end to end play with a couple of opportunities missed. Isca scored twice just before half time to go 2-0 up into the second half. Isca scored another shortly after half time. St Luke's responded with a goal shortly after. Isca ended up the winners with a 5-1 victory and through to round 2 of the national cup.  Man of the match was James B.

Year 8 A Team v St Peters
Year 8 Football hosted St Peters in the second round of the National Cup. We knew this would be a very tough game but the boys were up for it and started very strong. Isca dominated the first half possession and territory but St Peters defended well and their keeper save a couple of early opportunities. Cohen S eventually found the back of the net to make the score 1-0 at half time. The second half was equally tense with end to end football being played. Albert L followed in on a deflection from the keeper to take the score to 2-0. St Peters fought back hard but Isca defended very well and counter attacked with a fine finish from Cody D to make the final score a 3-0 win. Man of the match was Albert L.

Year 9 A Team v Great Torrington School
Year 9's opened their national cup campaign at home against Great Torrington School. Isca got off to a very strong start with a hat-trick from Luke man to take Isca to to 3-0 at half time. Great Torrington fought back in the second half to 3-2. An excellent header by JJ from a corner gave Isca a 4-2 lead. Both sides scored again to leave Isca the winners 5-3 and through to round 2 of the National Cup. Man of the match Ryan G.

Year 11 v Torquay Boys Grammar School
At half time break it was 3-0 Isca. This first half success was down to some excellent teamwork and the fine shooting skills of Alfie (x2) and Rio. However the start of the second half wasn't so good for Isca, conceding 3 quick goals in a row in the first 10 minutes. The team pulled themselves together and found the back of the net twice more from the boot of Alfie, making it 5-3 in Isca's favour. The Torquay team didn't give up and sneaked one more goal before the final whistle.
A 5-4 win to Isca on the road, taking the team into the third round of the national school cup.
