Exam Contingency Day 2019

GCSE Exams Contingency Day Wednesday 26 June 2019

During the spring term students will be sent individualised timetables that will highlight when their final exam will take place. The exams in Year 11 usually run from early May until mid June. However there is a new arrangement in place for 2019. For the first time a contingency exam day has been arranged by the exam boards and will be added to each student’s timetable. The date that has been set aside as the contingency day is Wednesday 26th June.

The contingency day has been arranged for the rescheduling of any exam that might be postponed following local or national disruption to examinations; for example, incidents such as Grenfell Tower and the Manchester Arena bombing in 2018.
We are asking all parents and carers to make a note of the new reserve exam date. Students must be available and able to come into school until 26th June 2019 in order to sit any exam postponed during the exam schedule and students will remain on our school role until this date.

We know it is common and completely understandable for families to book holidays in June and July for when students have finished their exams. However, it is imperative that this date is protected as it will be devastating for a student to miss out on a good grade after working hard for two years because they might be absent from a rearranged final exam.
