Special Educational Needs

Isca Academy is an inclusive school.  We work hard to remove any barriers to education while retaining high expectations of every pupil.  We ensure that we work with due regard to the 2014 Special Educational Needs Code of Practice, this document can be found by clicking here

The department works with parents and feeder schools to take an individual approach to meeting each pupil’s needs.  Our approach may include internal interventions or engaging outside agencies but will always be personalised to an individual pupil. There are over 750 children in our school, all of whom are unique.  Our school prides itself on its inclusive approach to education and we are always working to develop what we do.  Well managed change is crucial to remain effective.
We always welcome visits from prospective parents, or parents of students already with us.  You are also welcome to bring someone with you on these visits, if you would like support. Visits can be organised by contacting our SENCOs, Greg Ireland and Jo Eveleigh at senco@iscaexeter.co.uk

Our Special Educational Needs and Inclusion Policy is downloadable below. Please note that this is reviewed annually by the Governing body and therefore subject to change. Any questions regarding this should be directed to Ali Moxey, Assistant Headteacher.
For further details about accessing support and help for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in Devon, please see the Devon SEND  website where full details of the local offer are located.
