Welcome to Isca

Dear Parents and Carers

As we are now well into the New Year, I wonder how many of you have kept up your New Year’s Resolutions?  Thinking about this, I felt it would be useful to share with you, our school improvement resolutions for this year.  Whilst we are continuing to look at all aspects of life in the school and seek to improve the experience for all students, we are focusing heavily on the following areas:

To further improve achievement
Continue to improve the rate and extent of progress for all students in all subjects
To narrow the achievement gap for students in receipt of Free School Meals (when compared to students who do not receive Free School Meals)

To further improve teaching and learning
To ensure consistency of marking, feedback and response in all lessons
To use assessment information in the classroom to differentiate learning opportunities to ensure students of all abilities make good or better progress
Continue to accelerate the pace of learning by ensuring there is a ‘sharp start’ to all lessons

To further improve Leadership and Management
Improving the leadership and impact of Heads of Department to ensure progress for all pupils
To continue to relentlessly address non-attendance, punctuality and disruptive behaviour
To reshape the curriculum at Key Stage 4 to ensure it meets the needs of all learners and prepares them for the next stage of their education

To further improve the wider life of the school
To increase the extra-curricular and additional study opportunities for all students
To enhance school performance in sport and reinvigorate the expressive and performing arts
To broaden the role of Isca Academy in the community

If you can offer support in any of these areas or would like to share your opinions about our progress so far, please email me or come to the next Tea with The Head which will take place during the week commencing 24 March 2014.  May I take this opportunity to thank all those who came to the recent session and shared their questions and ideas.  These events and opportunities to talk to you directly are very important to me.

Kind regards
Beverley Martin
